This is a technical workshop aimed at giving you new creative skills with glass. You will learn a number of different ways of creating texture in your work and create a mixed selection of samples and decorative items for each of these methods.
Whilst this workshop is aimed at those with previous glass fusing experience, complete beginners will be looked after and will come away with a general understanding of glass fusing as well as specific skills to create fused glass texture.
You will work with clear glass, coloured glass, frits and powders. You will learn about techniques to put texture into the surface of your work, how to put texture into the underside of your work, how to create bubbles within your work in specific shapes. You will create your own cornichons which you will then be able to use decorate your surfaces. You will create samples to be fired at different temperatures to see how temperature affects the surface of the glass. You will also work with creating texture with crushed glass on the surface and the placing of glass in specific places on the surface.
You will finish by making a larger completed piece to which you can apply the knowledge that you have learned.
Course fee is fully inclusive of all materials, use of tools, kiln firings, lunch and refreshments.
